Vegetation Specialist

Ms. Atkin is a vegetation specialist at BIO-WEST. In her two years here, she has worked with plant resources throughout the Intermountain West and is experienced in plant identification, and natural resource surveys and inventories. Her computer skills include ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and working with global positioning systems. She has five years of experience and is a candidate for an M.L.A. in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University, and she has an M.S. in Plant Science and a B.S. in Horticulture from Utah State University and an A.A.S. degree from Salt Lake Community College.

  • 5 years of vegetation surveys throughout the Intermountain West and Colorado

  • 3 years of experience of surveying for sensitive, threatened and endangered plant species in the Intermountain West, Mojave Desert, and Uinta Basin

  • 2 years of experience of long term monitoring of threatened species Spiranthes diluvialis populations

  • Habitat classification and monitoring of threatened species

  • More than 4 years of invasive species mapping experience

  • Offering invasive species identification workshop to help educate private, state, and federal government agencies to ensure identification and treatment of invasive plant species

  • Worked on wetland delineation projects for variety of clients throughout Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho
