Field Hydrogeologist

Mr. Lofthouse has worked for BIO-WEST as a field hydrogeologist for nearly three years. He is responsible for site investigations and remediation system operation for underground storage tanks (UST) and hazardous waste sites. Other tasks include UST removals, preparing spill prevention control and counter measure plans, remediation system operation and maintenance, preparing nutrient management plans, Phase I investigations, report writing, groundwater modeling, and land surveying. He has four years of experience and a B.S. in Geology from Utah State University.

  • Utah certified UST groundwater and soil sampler (GS1497)

  • Utah licensed commercial pesticide applicator (13730)

  • Utah certified clandestine drug lab decontamination specialist (DS0909-14)

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

  • Proficient in well installation, abandonment, and pump tests

  • Preparing spill prevention control and countermeasure plans

  • Conducting Phase I and Phase II real estate environmental site assessments

  • Experienced in soil, groundwater, wastewater, and methamphetamine sampling

  • Familiar with federal acts relating to chemicals and the environment, including RCRA, CERCLA, and OSHA
