Fisheries Biologist

Mr. Webster's experience includes using and maintaining electrofishing equipment including backpack-, boom-, bank-, and boat-shocking devices; characterizing habitat; analyzing substrate; employing fish-marking techniques including passive integrated transponder and elastomer tagging; and analyzing stream habitats using basinwide visual estimation and representative reach extapolation techniques. He is well versed in sampling and handling Federally and state-endangered animals and is familiar with invertebrate collection methods including Ponar and Eckmann samplers, hess and sweep/kick nets, and obtaining fish stomach contents and benthos for invertebrate analysis and identification. Mr. Webster is adept in fish mensuration techniques and proficient at constructing and maintaining stream tanks for laboratory fish studies. He holds a B.S. in resource ecology and management from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in wildlife and fisheries resources from West Virginia University.

  • Skilled user of Procite, Microsoft Office suite, the statistical programs SAS and JUMP, the GIS programs ArcView and ArcGIS, and Program Mark 

  • Stream-habitat analyses
