Field Hydrogeologist

Mr. Nelson is responsible for site investigation and remediation system operation for underground storage tanks (USTs) and hazardous waste sites. His experience includes remediation system operation and maintenance, well installation, wastewater sampling, Phase I investigations, report writing, groundwater modeling, GIS mapping, soil and water sampling, and land surveying. Mr. Nelson is familiar with Federal acts dealing with chemicals and the environment. He is a certified Utah UST groundwater and soil sampler, a Utah-licensed commercial pesticide applicator, and has completed the OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. Mr. Nelson's education includes geochemistry, mineralogy, geomorphology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, structural geology, hydrogeology, hydrogeologic modeling, hydrology, and geology field methods. He is adept at groundwater modeling using Visual MODFLOW, mapping with ArcGIS and Surfer, analyzing pump-test data using AQTESOLV, and creating geologic logs with LogPlot. Mr. Nelson graduated in 2006 with a B.S. degree in geology from Saint Norbert College and is currently completing an M.S. degree related to hydrogeology and hydrogeologic modeling at Utah State University.
