Senior Ecologist

Dr. Schwertner brings more than a decade of professional experience to the firm. He specializes in simulation modeling of aquatic and terrestrial systems, study design, data analysis, and wildlife biology. Dr. Schwertner's background includes experience in project management, avian population ecology, and terrestrial community ecology. He has worked with large and small mammals, birds, herps, and fish. Dr. Schwertner has employed a variety of mammal surveying and management methodologies including trapping, aerial surveying, nocturnal spotlight censusing, drop netting for large mammals, net gunning, and chemical immobilization. He also has experience estimating game and nongame bird abundance, mist netting, electrofishing, mapping habitat, conducting baseline inventories, and surveying species. Dr. Schwertner holds a Ph.D. in wildlife ecology from Texas A&M University, an M.S. in biology from Texas State University, and a B.S. in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University.
