Company Principal, Environmental Engineering Section Leader, Senior Hydrogeologist
Mr. Thompson has worked for BIO-WEST for more than 15 years. His responsibilities include project management, hydrogeologic investigation, erosion-control planning, and stormwater management. Mr. Thompson has participated in projects involving geology, soils, air quality, and hazardous waste. Additionally, he has documented impacts to geologic and groundwater resources as a member of several interdisciplinary teams conducting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analyses. Mr. Thompson's experience includes evaluating groundwater resources for stream restoration and wetland mitigation projects and assessing potential impacts to drinking water sources, as well as assisting clients with water-right evaluations. He has in-depth experience with state water regulations for Utah, Idaho, and surrounding states, and has established a rapport with regulators in each of these states. Mr. Thompson holds an A.A.S. in geology and a B.S. in composite sciences with an emphasis in geology. His education also includes graduate studies in geology and hazardous waste. | Skills & Qualifications
Registered professional geologist (WY PG-2913) and Utah-certified Environmental Consultant (CC0070) Proficient in creating Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans Experienced at managing chemically and petroleum-contaminated sites including subsurface investigations, corrective action development, waste management, regulatory compliance, and remediation system design Familiar with many chemical and environmental Federal acts (as well as their state counterparts) including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Safe Drinking Water Act; Occupational Safety and Health Act; and NEPA Instructed courses on controlling erosion and sedimentation on highway and other construction projects Hands-on experience with various soil and groundwater remediation methods (gained during the design, installation, and operation of numerous systems) Completed numerous Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessments for real estate transactions and transportation corridors
