Crossroads of the West National Historic District Management Plan

Crossroads of the West National Historic District Management PlanCrossroads of the West National Historic District Management PlanAs a result of its location in the geographical center of the western United States and the joining of the Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory Point and the many trails, roads, and communication routes that converge and diverge in this area, Ogden has often been referred to as “Junction City” (hence the term Crossroads of the West).

BIO-WEST provided professional services to develop a management plan for the Crossroads of the West National Historic District, which was established by the U.S. Congress in 2000 to preserve and interpret, for the educational and inspirational benefit of the public, the contribution of certain historic and cultural lands and edifices, and to enhance cultural and compatible economic development within the district. The management plan described opportunities for development of historic, architectural, natural, cultural, and interpretive resources while also assessing measures that could be taken to encourage economic development and revitalization within the district in a manner consistent with its historic character. This project involved facilitating monthly meetings with the project advisory committee, holding three public workshops, and developing the management plan document.
