The San Antonio Express News recently published an article, by Elena Bruess, featuring BIO-WEST’s aquatic ecologist, Brad Littrell, and his conservation work to rehabilitate habitat along the San Marcos and Comal Rivers. The goal of the project is protect the endangered plants and animals and restore the balance of native species that live within the Edwards Aquifer. In addition to reducing murky water and removing invasive species, BIO-WEST has been counting and collecting endangered animals as a way to monitor population trends throughout the restoration process. In the ten years since the project work began, there is already a significant improvement in the environment.
