BIO-WEST, Inc. is now a registered certified geoscience firm in the state of Texas.
The Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists has approved BIO-WEST’s application to become a certified geoscience firm. As of August 2019, BIO-WEST can offer and perform geosciences services in the state of Texas.
These services include Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments for real estate such as commercial, agricultural, industrial, and oil and gas properties. The firm has also performed assessments on properties with wind farms, solar farms, and pipelines.
Wes Thompson, BIO-WEST’s senior hydrogeologist, was certified as a professional geoscientist in Texas earlier this year. He also has an active license to practice in the states of Utah and Wyoming.
According to their website, the TBPG mission is to “protect public health, safety, welfare, and the state’s natural resources by ensuring only qualified persons carry out the public practice of geoscience and enforcing the Code of Professional Conduct the board has established for its licensees.”
The TBPG’s website defines geoscience as “the science of the earth and its origin and history.” Geoscientists investigate the earth’s environment and its constituent soils, rocks, minerals, fossil fuels, solids, and fluids. They also study the natural and introduced influences that cause changes in and on the earth.
Thompson’s specialty is environmental geology. He conducts geoscience and related work in Texas, Utah, and the western United States.
